This is a book I downloaded for free from the Kobo store. Included with what appears to be a series of books about the character called Calla Cress. This is a book that, in my opinion, is aimed at a young audience.

Calla Cress is an agent of a multinational international intelligence organisation, she is an archaeologist and not exactly a field agent. The adventure of this book has to do with Cress’s mysterious past, who is looking for her biological parents and gets involved in the investigation of a theft of archaeological objects from a museum in Germany.

I had seen in the reviews of the book that many praised the detail with which the scenes, actions and activities typical of espionage and related to cryptology were described. Certainly, the book begins with a good story in this regard, perhaps as fiction requires.

Unfortunately, the story starts to involve elements, actions or characters that border on fantasy and not so much on science fiction, and least espionage. So, if we are rigorous, the thriller turns into a fantasy adventure.

In the end, the book ends with a series of actions or resolutions of the plot that seem made only to not leave loose ends but that are not entirely credible and are too fast. Something like when we see one of those bad low-budget movies or one by a novice director who thinks that stating fantastic facts solves the problem.

In short, it should be read (if you have nothing else) once .
