There is a lot of opinions and ideas of what should be your behaviour in Twitter. Looking in most of them I have found some common thoughts but none of them are exhaustive nor complete. If you are interested in what should be a polite conduct in Twitter you have to look among several of this opinions and get your own criteria on what is permissible in the tweetosphere and with your followers. This is my contribution on the subject.
- Twittiquette rule 1: Avoid using twitter as a sale channel. There are much better ways to promote your business.
- Twittiquette rule 2: Give appropriate credits and courtesy when you interacts with your followers.
- Twittiquette rule 3: Don’t encourage a twitter user with spamming or porn intentions.
- Twittiquette rule 4: Don’t hit people up with stupid or useless comments.
- Twittiquette rule 5: Avoid tell people how great you are instead of showing them a small amount of humility.
- Twittiquette rule 6: Try not being boring. If you need company or talk with somebody, there are much better forums and places.
- Twittiquette rule 7: Avoid retweet with no purpose.
- Twittiquette rule 8: Try not confront or argue on comments made by another users you’re following. If you’re following another user It was your decision and you have to respect his/her point of view. If you not concur with his/her opinion you should stop follow that user. You should do not use Twitter to attack another user.
- Twittiquette rule 9: You should not pretend to be someone else.
